How to Properly Care for Wooden Decorations?

Wooden decorations are a stylish and durable element of any interior or event decor. However, to keep them looking great and lasting as long as possible, proper care and storage are essential. In this article, we’ll cover the key rules for maintaining and storing plywood, MDF, and HDF decorations.

1. How to Store Wooden Decorations Properly?

Depending on the size and shape of the item, different storage methods apply:

Large decorations (backdrops, screens, panels, tables, and other event pieces) should always be stored horizontally on a flat surface (such as the floor or a table). This prevents warping and deformation of the material.

Smaller decorations (figurines, stands, and small panels) can be stored vertically but should be kept in a dry place away from direct sunlight.

If the decorations are painted or have delicate elements, they should be protected from dust and mechanical damage (for example, by covering them with fabric or storing them in boxes).

2. Optimal Storage Conditions

To maintain their appearance, wooden decorations should be kept in the following conditions:

Temperature: +10 to +25°C (50 to 77°F)

Humidity: 40–60%

Avoid sudden temperature changes and high humidity, as they can cause material expansion or shrinkage.

Do not leave decorations outdoors unless they are specifically designed for outdoor use.

3. Caring for Painted Wooden Decorations

Use a dry or slightly damp soft cloth for cleaning.

Avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive moisture, as they can damage the paint or finish.

If scratches or minor damage appear, touch up the surface with appropriate paint or varnish.

Following these simple guidelines will help keep your wooden decorations in excellent condition for years to come.
